***Participants will learn how to prepare matcha the traditional way under the guidance of Ayumi Matcha founder Jana Malínská and take a moment to slow down in the peaceful atmosphere of the Mucha Foundation Art Museum.*** Part of the “Language of Flowers” Japanese Weekend at the Mucha Foundation Art Museum is a workshop where participants will learn to prepare the traditional Japanese drink matcha just as it is made in Japan. They’ll discover how high-quality matcha differs from store-bought varieties, how to choose the right tea, and why a bamboo whisk is used in the preparation. Under the guidance of instructor Jana Malínská, they’ll try their hand at the entire process, taste three types of matcha, sample a matcha dessert, and take home practical tips on how to prepare it at home. The workshop is part of a Japanese-themed weekend. Throughout the weekend, the museum will host the *Language of Flowers* exhibition, which brings contemporary Japanese ikebana art from the Sogetsu School to the Mucha Foundation Art Museum. The project’s leading figure is Japanese master Hieda Shigyoku, who is coming to Prague with her students to present ikebana through both the exhibition and live demonstrations. The project is conceived as an encounter between Japanese aesthetics and Czech art, glassmaking, and local plant materials.
