Collegium 1704 a přátelé: For These Distracted Times
The music of England in a time of turmoil. What does music sound like in a world that is falling apart? And what form does it take when society begins to seek harmony once again? The programme traces the transformation of English instrumental music through the turbulent 17th century — from the cultivated surroundings of the royal court, through the Civil War and the fall of the monarchy, to London’s new musical life. Works by Henry Purcell, Thomas Tomkins, Matthew Locke, William Lawes and Nicola Matteis bear witness to an age marked by political and religious conflict, but also by extraordinary creative energy. The concert will be complemented by dramatic interludes inspired by authentic 17th-century sources.
Hudba Anglie v čase neklidu. Jak zní hudba ve světě, který se rozpadá? A jakou podobu získává, když se společnost znovu učí hledat soulad? Program sleduje proměnu anglické instrumentální hudby v bouřlivém 17. století — od kultivovaného prostředí královského dvora přes občanskou válku a pád monarchie až k novému hudebnímu životu Londýna. Díla Henryho Purcella, Thomase Tomkinse, Matthewa Locka, Williama Lawese a Nicoly Matteise se stávají svědectvím doby plné politických a náboženských konfliktů, ale také mimořádné tvůrčí energie. Koncert doplní herecké vstupy inspirované autentickými prameny 17. století.
