# Apocalyptic country rockers 16 Horsepower return to the scene after two decades, set to play Prague for the very first time in April The cult Denver band, with a core trio of David Eugene Edwards, Jean-Yves Tola, and Pascal Humbert, laid the very foundations of gothic country in the 1990s. With Edwards' singular songwriting, a distinctive blend of dark folk, country, bluegrass, and rock, and the recontextualization of traditional instruments such as the banjo, hurdy-gurdy, lap steel, and upright bass, 16 Horsepower became pioneers of an entirely new wave of American music, often dubbed The Denver Sound. They broke through with their studio debut album *Sackcloth 'n' Ashes* in 1996, followed only a year later by the acclaimed record *Low Estate*. During their thirteen years of existence from the founding in 1992, 16 Horsepower released four studio albums, a number of singles and EPs, and toured tirelessly across America and Europe. However, they will only now play in Prague for the first time as part of their massive 2027 spring reunion tour. # Apokalyptičtí country rockeři 16 Horsepower se po dvou dekádách vrací na scénu, v dubnu vůbec poprvé zahrají v Praze Kultovní denverská kapela, jejíž jádro tvoří trio David Eugene Edwards, Jean-Yves Tola a Pascal Humbert, v devadesátkách položila základy žánru gothic country. Edwardsův nezaměnitelný songwriting, osobité spojení folku, country, bluegrassu a rocku i rekontextualizace tradičních nástrojů jako banjo, niněra, lap steel či kontrabas ze 16 Horsepower udělaly pionýry nového, temného směru americké hudby, jemuž se v počátcích přezdívalo The Denver Sound. Prorazili svým debutem *Sackcloth 'n' Ashes* v roce 1996, na nějž o rok později navázali druhou, neméně zásadní deskou *Low Estate*. Kapela za třináct let existence od vzniku v roce 1992 vydala čtyři studiová alba, řadu singlů i EPček a přitom neúnavně koncertovala po Americe i Evropě. Do Prahy však poprvé zavítá teprve během svého velkého reunion turné na jaře roku 2027.
